Teffannie J. Hale

SOCIAL CHANGE ADVOCATE

For over a decade, Teffannie J. Hale has made civic engagement, educational equity, and parent empowerment the focus of her life’s work. She is the founder and CEO of The CAP Projects (CAP).

CAP is a grassroots initiative committed to dismantling bias in public education, empowering parents to advocate for their children, and challenging the systemic barriers that impact Black and underserved families.

​Through The CAP Projects, Teffannie has helped hundreds of parents and community leaders across Northeast Ohio learn how to navigate school systems, write effective communications, advocate for their children's rights, and build collaborative relationships with teachers and administrators. Her work includes facilitating culturally responsive professional development for educators and small businesses, and leading conversations and trainings designed to reduce racial bias and create more equitable learning environments.

Respected for her bold, empathic leadership and compelling unapologetic advocacy, Teffannie is known for forging strong, authentic relationships across diverse communities. She has served on multiple public school and community lead committees: Parent Advisory Council (PAC), Family Engagement Committee (FEC), and Problem Solving Advisory Groups. In the community health capacity, Teffannie serves on the Care Alliance Health Center Community Advisory Council (CAC).

Teffannie currently serves as the Executive Director of We Are Somebody, a national labor movement organization uplifting working-class communities through advocacy, organizing, and leadership development, especially centering women and parents of color. In this role, she continues her unwavering commitment to justice, equity, and collective power helping working families navigate systems, fight for their rights, and access the tools they need to thrive.

In 2019, she became the Community Engagement Manager for Our Revolution, where she managed over 600 grassroots groups across the country and developed training resources for community-led issue campaigns. Teffannie later served as National Senior Project Manager for the Bernie Sanders 2020 presidential campaign, where she led strategy, operations, and event logistics for four national co-chairs: Senator Nina Turner, Congressman Ro Khanna, Ben Cohen of Ben & Jerry’s, and Mayor Yulín Cruz of San Juan, Puerto Rico.

​Teffannie holds an Associate Degree in Business Management with a concentration in Marketing and a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Cleveland State University. Based in Ohio, she is a long-time Dress for Success volunteer, a dedicated CMSD parent advocate, and a constant voice for equity in both local communities and national movements.
